Since launching in September 2014, the Cramlington Rugby League Academy has being going from strength to strength.
Lead by coaches from the community department of partner club, Cramlington Rockets, a squad of 19 players are enjoying the elite coaching on offer.
As well as bespoke rugby training, the players have personalised strength and conditioning programmes and recently trained with Newcastle Thunder’s players and staff, including several international rugby league players.
The Open Evening saw a big interest in the Rugby Academy from year 11 students deciding where to study for sixth form next year. As well as players who have not played the sport before, a number of current Rockets also showed an interest in joining for the 2015/2016 academic year.
“There is a buzz around the Cramlington Rugby League Academy at the minute and I'm not surprised to see a great turn out like this” said Head Coach, Steven Beaty.
“We truly believe we are building something special with the Cramlington Learning Village and it's nice to see people are starting to realise that.
The school holds itself to such a high standard and so do the Rockets. It has been a relationship which has gelled really quickly. We have come in and added a bit rugby and lifestyle expertise to the exiting culture and the results have been fantastic.”
Beaty continued: “the teaching staff, especially Mr Best have been outstanding. It's great to work with people that share the same values.
